The name and logo
Counseling with a Purpose is deeply rooted in the symbolism of the olive branch, which traditionally represents peace and reconciliation. The logo, featuring two olive branches in a circle, beautifully captures the concept of reciprocity and harmony within relationships and oneself.
The phrase "to extend an olive branch" is quite fitting here, as it signifies the act of making an effort to restore peace and mend relationships. This symbolism aligns well with the goals of counseling, which often involve helping individuals find peace within themselves and improve their relationships with others.
The idea of reciprocity in the circle of life suggests a mutual exchange and interconnectedness, highlighting the importance of balanced and harmonious interactions. This could reflect the therapeutic process where understanding, empathy, and communication play vital roles in fostering healing and growth.
Overall, the symbolism of the olive branch in the logo and its representation in my counseling practice underscores a commitment to promoting peace, harmony, and meaningful connections — both within individuals and in their relationships with others.
Meet Devyna
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker based out of Washington State. I have experience in providing mental health and behavioral health counseling to youth and young adults with struggles related to stress and anxiety, depression, relationships, grief or loss, and/or traumatic experience(s). Over 14 years of my experience has been in the school setting, providing support to children and teens with social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs, while helping their parents/caregivers navigate school and parenting challenges.
I believe that everyone does the best they can with the skills they currently have. And sometimes life has some challenges, even unexpected ones, that can impact our mental health and well-being. These challenges don’t have to be faced alone. Through these challenges new skills can be acquired to help deal with the stressors life may bring. Together, we will identify goals you would like to achieve from counseling and work towards reaching them.
My clinical skills are influenced by a trauma informed and holistic approach. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Collaborative Problem Solving to help others achieve their goals.
As a member of the BIPOC community, ensuring a safe, supportive space and practices that are culturally competent is a priority for me. My approach is laid back and can vary based on individual needs and preferences. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
